Challenge: I was asked to come up with one sentence of copy for Elections Manitoba that would resonate with young voters and encourage them to vote.

Solution: I started by brainstorming phrases or language that felt exclusive to younger voters. Copy for older audiences had already been developed at this point so I wasn’t concerned with older voters grasping the copy.

Result: Initially, some of the senior copywriters didn’t understand the concept. After discussing the copy with some of their younger colleagues, the idea became clear and my copy was pitched to Elections Manitoba.

Election’s Manitoba were quick to approve the idea and my copy made it on to a billboard, posters, and was even covered by Global News.

This was a big personal achievement for me as it was the first time I saw my work displayed on such a large scale.
